Vv Pete is the deadliest boss in town, and she’s ready to light up the stage at Vivid LIVE. With her authoritative delivery, club-rattling beats, and broad musical palette, the Mount Druitt-based Sudanese rapper and vocalist has ignited the local hip-hop scene, producing instant bangers and delivering buzzy shows at Oxford Arts Factory, FBi Radio’s SMACS Fest, and SXSW Sydney.
As a youngster, Vv Pete piqued the interest of triple j’s hip-hop host Hau Latukefu and Sydney crew OneFour, drawing early comparisons to Stefflon Don, Missy Elliott, and Lizzo. Her 2022 debut single ‘Bussit’ quickly gained popularity, including a spin on New York’s famed hip-hop station, Hot 97, and a needle drop on smash series Heartbreak High. She collaborated with Trackwork producer UTILITY and electronic music mogul Cassius Select on the ferocious ‘Frauds’ (2022), and reconnected with the latter for last year’s ‘Jordan 1s’, a Jersey-influenced hot sassed with a platinum hook and Pete’s unparalleled flow. Apple Music named the track one of the songs of the year, and FBi Radio named it Song.
With a highly anticipated debut mixtape on the way, this emerging sensation is going to dish up a feast – and the Varvies are eating. This marks her Vivid LIVE debut.
