The World Time Attack Challenge began as a local event conducted at Sydney’s now-defunct Oran Park Raceway. Ian Baker organized the first Superlap Australia event in 2008 after traveling to Japan and competed with the Hi Octane Racing team at the legendary Tsukuba Circuit.

World Time Attack Challenge (WTAC) is the world’s largest time attack festival, held only at Sydney Motorsport Park. The principle of time attack racing is simple: all drivers and cars compete against the clock to complete one flawless lap. WTAC also includes an international drift competition, a massive outdoor show and shine, and the largest dealer and activation area to date.

More than simply a race, all tickets include entry to the Yokohama World Time Attack Challenge, the International Drifting Cup presented by Garrett Advancing Motion, Shannon’s StylizeD Show and Shine (Saturday), and the enormous dealer activation area.

Prior to the event, all cars must pass scrutineering. Scrutineers inspect the vehicle for all required safety components and ensure that it complies with the class requirements.

Competitors are grouped into four classes: Clubsprint, Open, Pro Am, and Pro. At the end of the final session on Day 2, the quickest five cars in each class advance to a bonus round known as Superlap Shootout.

Superlap Shootout provides another opportunity for the top five cars in each class to improve their times. With the track at its ideal temperature and little traffic to contend with, the Superlap Shootout is anticipated to produce the event’s fastest timings.

The Class Trophy is awarded to the team with the quickest overall lap (over the course of two days) in their class. The team that completes the fastest Pro Class lap is proclaimed the WTAC winner.
